Ganny lock Brighouse, restoration work.

Lock before work started

Stone restoration work carried out on Ganny lock Brighouse. The pressure of the embankment had moved the lock wall in by 100mm in some places.

Ladder recess extension

Ladder recess extended to the bottom of the lock.
The quality of the stonework below the water line
is a credit to the canal engineers

The lock in use.NO FISHING

The lock wall was refaced due to subsidence over hundreds of years. Up to 4" was taken of the stone work, to leave a smooth finish to match the original stone work.In time the newly exposed stone will weather to match the old stone

Ganny lock as it looks today, after weathering has taken the stone back to it's original, old look.
